Rachel Luttrell

Rachel Luttrell (born 19 January 1971) is a Canadian actress famous for appearing as Veronica Beck in the CBC series Street Legal and later appeared in guest roles on ER, Charmed, Forever Knight and other television series. She currently plays Teyla Emmagan, an Athosian warrior-leader on Stargate Atlantis.

Luttrell was born in Lushoto, Tanzania, to an US-American father from Louisiana, and Tanzanian mother, and was raised in Canada. Her family was very musical; her father, a former member of the critically acclaimed Mendelsohn Choir, trained Luttrell's soprano voice. She studied ballet at the prestigious Russian Academy of Classical Ballet School and also studied piano at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.
